Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By booking a service, group class, or consultation with Jim Rudman trading as Dog Jim Training, you agree to be bound by the following terms.
1. Services & Commitment
Dog Jim Training provides expert group classes, workshops, and 1:1 behavioural consultations. Dog training is a partnership between the trainer, the owner, and the dog. While we employ proven, professional techniques, the success of any training program relies heavily on the owner's consistency, commitment, and practice outside of our sessions. Therefore, we cannot guarantee specific behavioural outcomes or "quick fixes."
2. Booking, Fees & Travel
- Payment: All classes, workshops, and 1:1 consultations must be paid for in advance via our secure online booking system to secure your spot.
- Travel Surcharges: For 1:1 Consultations, travel within a 10-mile radius of our base is included in the standard fee. Distances beyond 10 miles are subject to a travel surcharge, which is calculated and displayed prior to checkout.
3. Cancellations & Rescheduling
We strictly limit our class sizes and schedule to ensure the highest quality of training. Because of this, late cancellations significantly impact our business and other clients waiting for a spot.
- 1:1 Consultations: We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a 1:1 consultation. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or failure to be present for a scheduled session, will result in the forfeiture of your booking fee.
- Group Classes & Workshops: Once a multi-week course or specific workshop has commenced, the fee is entirely non-refundable and non-transferable. If you miss a week of a group class, we cannot offer a refund or a make-up session for that missed week.
- Trainer Cancellations & Monthly Subscriptions: Occasional session cancellations may occur due to venue closures, trainer holidays, or illness. Our monthly subscription rate is intentionally discounted (£45 per month, compared to the £15 individual session rate) to automatically account for these occasional absences across the year. Additionally, your monthly subscription fee acts as a "space saver," guaranteeing and holding your spot in the class even during weeks you are unable to attend. Because this discount and retainer are built into the model, individual pro-rata refunds are not issued for occasional cancelled or missed sessions under the monthly subscription plan.
4. Health, Safety & Disclosures
The safety of our clients, their dogs, and our staff is our absolute priority.
- Vaccinations: All dogs attending group classes or in-person sessions must be fully vaccinated and up-to-date with flea and worming treatments. You may be asked to provide proof of vaccination.
- Behavioural History (Crucial): You must honestly disclose any history of aggression, biting, or severe reactivity prior to booking. Failure to disclose a dog's aggressive history may result in the immediate termination of the session without a refund.
- Female Dogs in Season: Female dogs in season are generally not permitted to attend group classes to prevent disruption. Please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements if this occurs during your course.
5. Owner Responsibility & Liability
- You are legally responsible for your dog's behaviour and actions at all times.
- Dog Jim Training will not accept responsibility for any loss, injury, or damage caused by your dog to any person, property, or other animal during or after our training sessions.
- Children are welcome and encouraged to attend training sessions, but they must be strictly supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- We reserve the right to immediately terminate any session if a dog is deemed dangerously out of control, or if an owner is using harsh, punitive, or abusive handling methods.
6. Media & Photography
We are proud of the progress our clients make! We may occasionally take photographs or short video clips during training sessions, workshops, or group classes. These may be used for educational purposes on our website's "Training Log" or for promotional use on our official social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).
Opting Out: We completely respect your privacy. If you prefer that you or your dog are not photographed or featured on our website and social media, simply let Jim know prior to or at the start of your session, and we will happily ensure no media is taken.
7. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
